St. Louis is one of the best locations in the US when it comes to outdoor activities. Although its landlocked theres no shrotage of outdoor activities for a summer getaway. The St. Louis Zoo is rated one of the best in the nation. Its situated on 90 acres and includes a childrens zoo, an insectarium, and a miniature train. During June 2010, the zoo sponsors North Star Summer Weekends. In addition, there are free Friday night Jungle Boogie Concerts for the whole family. Another point of interest is the St. Louis Arch. Located on the riverfront, there are any number of things to do. This includes shopping, and what trip to the arch would be complete without going to the top. To accomplish this you board one of two enclosed trams. It takes approximately four minutes to get to the top. Narration is provided as you ride. If you're looking for delicious dining, this city is also known for excellent restaurants, both casual and fine dining. Theres also Grants Farm, which is the 281 acre ancestral home of the Busch family. Located just south of the city of St. Louis, its home to 1000 animals representing 100 different species. from six continents. Oh, and while you're there, please don't forget to check out the Clydesdale stables. Theres also the St. Louis Botannical Gardens, and the list goes on. If you're looking for a weekend excursion, St. Louis is the place. Your weekend may be extended to enjoy all that this midwestern city has to offer. |
